What’s the cost of living in Albania? (19/07/21)

July 19th 2021

A few minutes ago, I released a new video where I take you to the beach and talk about the cost of living in Albania. There’s also a surprise in there, so click here to watch!

I’ve been in Albania for about 40 days now and… dayum… it’s HOT. Average high of 32°. But it sure is stunning too! I left the concrete streets of Tirana on the 9th, got my first taste of the beach in Durrës, the second most populous city of Albania, and then headed to Vlorë, where I am now. I rode along the coast on a scooter the other day and it was absolutely breathtaking!

One thing that’s great about being here is that I start teaching around 7:00 and finish at 15:00 but the sun only goes down at 20:00, so it’s definitely possible to go to the beach every day! Double that with the cost of living in Albania and you got yourself a bitchin’ holiday!

In this video, I talk about how I created a Facebook Group for all of us. I want to build a community around Gringo Nation, where we can help each other find our freedom through travel, sharing tips and ideas with like-minded travelers or aspiring nomads! There are already some of us in there so click here to join Nomad Nation! 🤙

In the past few days, I’ve started to plan my next move and I’ve been looking at flights! I’ve already started paying for my New Years trip back home in Brazil but before that, I should head on over to Portugal, where I can catch a cheap flight back home. This all might happen sooner than I expected, cutting my Albania trip short but hey… plans change all the time! That’s the number 1 rule of travel.

Which brings me to a couple of suggestions to help you guys out when booking flights (not sponsored BTW) I’ve been using SkyScanner for years and it’s been very helpful, especially when you have flexible dates. I love looking at their calendar and just picking the cheapest flight. Doesn’t matter what day it is! They also have a cool feature where you type in “everywhere” and it gives you cheap suggestions of countries to go to, making it an excellent daydreaming tool.

Another helpful app is Hopper. You type in the date you want to travel on and it tells you whether you should buy now or wait. If you use both of them together (SkyScanner and Hopper) you will most likely get the best possible deal on your flights.
